I visited the Expo site yesterday and reviewed CCS’s work with the customer. They are absolutely thrilled with the work your crew has done there and commended them all. Not only did they get a complex project completed in a short time, they mentioned the ease of working with your staff, their attention to detail, and how neat and clean the work was. The County staff has been under a great deal of pressure to get this high profile project completed by June 30th and, as you may know, they originally awarded this project to another contractor, but then switched to L Tech/CCS because they said this project could not be completed until July 15th. You guys have come through with flying colors. Of course I am also thrilled because it also reflects on L Tech and the subs we select for their projects. This note is concerned with the performance of Jessica Elledge as it relates to teaching and answering questions concerned with the operation of the SMART ID350. As necessary background I am a university professor who has suffered a very rapid neurological degeneration with the consequent loss of the ability to walk unassisted, stand unassisted, or write on a blackboard. I am a professor in the physics department at SDSU. We have a serious shortage in our teaching staff and there is no one to stand in for me this semester for a graduate class. Sarah mentioned Jessica when I contacted Sarah for questions I had in the operation of the ID350. For the last several weeks I have been in touch with Jessica by email with lots of questions, many of which involved trying to make my script on the tablet more legible to the students. She has answered all of my questions as to whether what I wanted to do could be done on the smart tablet. Her suggestions were very prompt whether they were asked during working hours, after working hours, or on weekends. As a result my grad students are telling me that the script is becoming more legible. Last semester without the Smart tablet background I had very poor grades on presentation of the material. In addition to answering all questions, Jessica spent a whole afternoon further educating us on such things as emailing a script lecture made on the smart tablet to either PCs or Macs, etc. She has also provided us with literature, but there is really no substitute for a prompt, reliable answer to an immediate, frustrating problem. I feel that Jessica Elledge is a very valuable member of your staff and I also feel that she can help me in all my forthcoming questions as I learn more about what I can do with the ID350. Eastfield College is part of the Dallas County Community College District. The recent bond program created opportunities to expand our campus with four buildings and one satellite campus site. Careful planning in the design and development for the first of these buildings, the Learning Center, began in 2006. The intent to bring together space, technology, and pedagogy to ensure learner success was achieved. CCS Presentation Systems played a significant role in the success we have experienced during the first semester in the Learning Center building. Patti Postel and her team delivered an audiovisual experience for faculty, students, and community members that exceeded our expectations. The 55,000 square foot facility includes nineteen room control system integrated learning studio spaces, two community event spaces and digital sign installation in student commons areas. The programming and installation staff provided professional, consistent and complete service. CCS Presentation Systems participated in a year long intensive College Learning Studio Pilot program beginning in Fall, 2007 at Eastfield College. An intensive experiment to conceptualize the learning studio approach involved external furniture and audiovisual vendor product installation in existing classrooms. The collaboration between vendors and students, faculty, and college leadership resulted in tremendous success in identifying instructional support needs. Patti and her staff were instrumental in facilitating faculty and student needs and feedback, installation ideas, requested modifications, training, survey participation, and advice on future projects. In the past, CCS Presentation Systems staff has provided numerous site visits, room system designs, and recommendations to Eastfield College Media & Production Services department and IT division. We have been invited to several professional development programs hosted by CCS through the years. These programs offer timely and topical content for media technology providers. It is my privilege to recommend the service of CCS Presentation Systems.

We use CCS not only for the corporate office but every campus has 52 classrooms so every campus has a projection system in it, every campus has a lobby with audio visual systems some have three some have five displays we have 180 field reps in the field who all use projectors and we are constantly giving presentations to high schools and students its very important that the equipment be very reliable. The last thing you want to do is show up at a school to do a presentation and not have a projector that works. I was looking at the organization, what makes sense for us and really the idea was, can I save money? I went over to CCS and I met with John and I met with Rob and some other people and when I walked out of there what I realized is that CCS is about quality and not being a vendor, they want to be a partner and that relationship has grown and grown over the course of many years. I can honestly say I have had many vendors over and over, everybody has a better price but nobody can make the partnership, I cant tell you what it’s like to call (CCS) and say I need this done and know that when I specify it out and get the proposal completed that its going to be done right and they are going to do it without being intrusive to the business.

They far and away do a much better job at providing solutions than other places do, we’ve used CCS before in the past and we’ll continue to use them in the future. Any time we have a new project and need installation I go to CCS. We are a private school and a non for profit so we are the caretakers of our own finances, I’ve never felt CCS has tried to take advantage of the amount we will pay for a product. I think it’s a major part of why I come back to CCS and why I trust them with my projects, this school has a lot of ideas some of them pan out and some of them don’t and when they do pan out the school wants to move on them quickly and I need a vendor that understands that and works with me the best they can. Because the space was so limited we needed to make the boardroom a training room, also. For board meetings we needed to update the technology especially visually for the audience. CCS came in and installed four cameras, two projectors, added two 60 inch monitors to replace our old televisions. Before, this room wasn’t set up for PowerPoint presentations because people in the audience were not able to see. Now (with the two 60 inch plasmas) people can see and get something out of it. We were looking for a way to project images here on campus that would showcase the things that are going on campus, what the kids are doing, educational information, we wanted to educate, entertain, and inform...We played around with a couple of ideas, we actually played around with a projection system, but the system would need more lumens in order to project and the ambient light had to be taken into consideration. The thought came up to do a closed circuit type of (design) where you would have a direct feed into the plasma screens. It’s worked out great, we have been very pleased, we want to showcase events that the schools are doing, events that are coming up, showcase sporting and cultural events that the kids are participating in. We use it both as a form of advertisement for upcoming events as well as to showcase events that have occurred already and kids love to see themselves and it shows all the things the shows are doing. It’s been a very pleasurable experience, CCS was able to come in and deliver the equipment as promised, it’s been a very worth while experience. In today’s business market its important (to have things installed on time) you want to get what you paid for and you want it in the time you’ve agreed it would be installed.

We were basically looking to have it more or less self sufficient so that no matter who came in here they could use it. The boardroom is used for more than just a TV studio which is what we use for board meetings but its used throughout the whole week with other departments. We wanted to have something that they could easily come in here and push a button and set up and everything would work for them. They built everything around the TV so we can still do the live broadcast and they put in all the monitors and the Crestron unit - the remote part for all of the other departments to use. Working with them, they did a great job, they listened to what we asked for. We are very happy, when I use (the system) it is really easy, when I get a call from someone who wants to use it, it is easy to talk them through to get it done. They delivered what we wanted to have done, they gave it to us at a fair price and the work was done when they said it would be done and the support was really good!

We were just looking for a good projector with a bright image that would take the newer inputs, we get a lot more people asking for computer displays and video displays, so we wanted to get a bright projector. We put in a new sound system, it has a dedicated sound system with wireless mics so it’s ready to go at any moment. In the chambers where the city council meets the projectors allow citizens, staff, and outside vendors like builders and architects to present to the council. Previously if presenters set up so council could see them the audience couldn’t. The screens in the front and the rear of the room allow both council as well as the audience to see exactly what’s being proposed. Everything in the room the projectors, screens, document camera is controlled by the court clerk from the AMX touch panel, she even controls the voting system! We will put an agenda item up in the screen and council members as well as the audience can see it and as the council votes the results are instantly displayed and recorded. This new system is a 180 degree departure from what we had before, when people presented the speakers could go on for hours! CCS installed timed microphones that limit the speakers to three minutes! Believe me the council is thrilled! From the decision making phase through the entire process it was seamless.

The scope of the project was more free form and we were looking for direction on what it could be and in the end it ultimately came down to being directed based on a set specific use of video art that was going to go on the plasmas. It was a very, very quick turnaround time (about 3 or 4 weeks) and initially some members of the team didn’t think it could be done but everybody pulled together and got it done for the event that was to be hosted by President Crow. They didn’t let me down, they stepped up to the plate as they said they would in the in the beginning way back when, when we first did our first round of proposals for the original project, they delivered to what they presented. It was fabulous, they (CCS) were given a very short turn around time from the point we started until they point it needed to be completed and put on the wall, there was no other way to describe it other than fabulous!

We were just in need of having some kind of new presentation capability, the governing board room is used heavily for all types of training seminars/sessions so there was a need. CCS’ attention to detail, they are really good at giving us a heads up about their schedule. Summer is their busiest time there are a lot of school districts in southern Arizona and CCS tries to make sure we have our needs met. They are really good at giving us a heads up and making sure they can fit us in with all the other school districts so they juggle and balance all the different needs they have, but they always drop by and show us the new things, CCS makes us aware of what we can do to make the projects fit in the timelines. In working with CCS from John Godbout and down that’s always been the key thing, I think they have always tried to make things right for K-12 and that’s what I feel that CCS always cares about K-12 and making a difference for K-12. I know they have other entities they deal with. They’ve supported us from the Azti conferences all the way up so I feel they are really invested in education. In the boardroom itself we needed a system that was automated and that would allow us to present a much better product for our board meetings. In the past in the board meetings the participants couldn’t interact with what was going on but now they can. At Catholic Healthcare West, we use projectors primarily for general staff meetings, training, and vendor demonstrations in our conference rooms. We are a statewide trade association for hospitals but it’s very difficult for members in Tucson and Flagstaff to attend all of the meetings. We knew if we wanted greater participation, we’d have to offer them teleconferencing. CCS designed everything to be operated from the front of the room. We can dial phones, turn on projectors, switch between DVDs or VCRs. Additionally, they installed a DVR player/recorder and a sound mixer - all controlled by a panel in the back of the conference room. To forecast energy usage, we need to correlate years of weather and climatic statistics in 15-minute intervals. In our Clipper Cove room, CCS installed three 50” plasma screens with SmartBoard overlays allowing us to draw, make notes and manage data on the screens and save it on a computer. In addition to the SmartBoard overlays, CCS came up with the idea of using Wall Talker that essentially turns all of the walls into white boards. Now we can make notes or draw diagrams on the walls - all the way around the room. “Our previous audio/visual system had been in place for about 10 years and there were dead spots all over the stadium. The audio clarity at the south end was marginal and fans couldn’t understand what was going on. We were having trouble selling advertising because the voice-overs were garbled and unintelligible. We were losing money because advertising represents one-third of our revenue, so upgrading the sound system was a worthwhile investment. CCS installed a row of speakers above the skyboxes, with additional speakers and video monitors under each overhang. Now the overall sound quality is excellent and you can see the scoreboard from any seat in the stadium. We are on a tight timeline. The project included high-output projectors shooting onto 9x12 screens, creating a 17-screen video wall. We are a very large real estate developer and CCS brought to us this idea of, what we call a megawall. It is four 60" plasma display screens and stands 7 feet tall. We have seven other LCD monitors around the room with speakers above them. The system is activated when you step on a pressure sensitive pad in the carpet. The system is totally amazing. CCS Presentation Systems answered all of our questions and were responsive to our needs. Working with CCS was a very good experience from the beginning to the very end.
